As Gmail and other Google applications come out of beta, they announce that they will be writing an operating system! After the success (functionality-wise rather than download count) of Chrome, I personally can’t wait for it to come out, and will be one of the first to download and install it. roll on 2010!
Defenders in tights
I’ve just stumbled across a fine advert for Google’s Chrome browser. I’ve never seen any ads for it before other than text links suggesting that you might possibly at some point maybe want to try a different browser. I hope that you enjoy the Defenders in tights ad as much as I did.
What is a browser?
Google went to Times Square in New York and posed (what we believe to be) a simple question – What is a browser? The answers were quite interesting – some people had no clue; others were painfully close, it just seemed like they didn’t have the right words to explain what they meant. Either way, it’s an interesting watch, and goes to show that what we take for granted isn’t always common knowledge.
Don’t leave post slugs as the default
This post is mainly aimed towards Wordpress, Textpattern and (probably) a multitude of other CMS driven website users. ‘Smart’ web software will automatically create a ‘slug’ for your new article, but it’s not always best to trust the CMS to come up with the best URL for you.

Feedburner Subscriber Count Problems
A few months ago when the switch was made from the Feedburner to Google servers and algorithms, many sites noticed that their subscriber count was lower, or worse, zero. It’s happened again. Even me, on this small time developer blog, have noticed a drop in numbers of around 30%. Jeff Star of Perishable press has posted a great write up on the recent subscriber drops, well worth a read.

Google claims to now understand and index Flash content. Do we believe it? The clever people over at webdesign beach have set up an entire site to test just that. And the cheeky little devils embedded the text in various ways to catch google out.
